Today seems to be the second annual Draw a Centaur Day.
Okay!
This character needed some concept drawing anyway. She's a worker at a certain small zoo of magical creatures, where she's both an animal caretaker and a general handyman. Or handywoman. Having some extra weight and muscles is much needed quality in taking care of magical creatures that can well have supernatural strength, so being a centaur earned her some bonus points when applying to the job. Although I haven't yet managed to figure out her name, her co-workers have nicknamed her "Pony". (Seriously, how on earth can making up a simple name be so hard?!)
The cat belongs to one of her co-workers. It seems to enjoy hitchhiking on her.
Also scribbled an extra doodle of her lending a hand -and couple of hooves- to Simon. Azzy (Azrael), one of their two male harpies doesn't like to take his vermicide tablets, so it needs some effort to shove them down his throat.
(I'm kind of considering making an art book of the life in the zoo, so I'm bouncing around some ideas. We'll see if I actually get around to do it, but it would sure be nice to leech some money to keep myself alive...)
I would be certainly interested in buying an art book about this Mystical creature zoo, it looks so interesting whenever you have the chance to talk about it! (I also feel like I should ask, but do you think you might sell english versions of Wurr one day?)
Thanks so much for the support! I'm planning to get the English edition of Wurr in a printable condition sometime this summer. Can't say any exact dates yet, but I'll do my best to get there.
You're very welcome! Thank you for getting back to me, this is very exciting news! It may be hard for you to gauge now, but how much do you think each volume will cost? (I am a resident in Canada, but we do pay in US dollars as well.)
I've sold the Finnish copies for 10 euros (seems to be around 13 US dollars at the moment), so I'll probably keep it around the same amount (plus shipping). As long as the printing costs don't come to bite me.
I really love your characters. they are always so interesting I don't know why, but the centaur girl looks like her name could be Rita. It's the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe because in my language when a horse hits you with its hoof, we say "ritnuo".
I would love to see more drawings of these creatures (please *puppy eyes*)
That book sounds like a fantastic idea! You could write up little blurb on the mystical creature natural habitats and about how the zoo tries to recreat that? I would so buy a book like that
