And thus my essay was returned six minutes too late, which will lower my grade for the course.

Happened just less than an hour ago, but because it's midnight, I couldn't message any friends of mine in case I'd wake them up, the frustration somehow ended up on paper.

Sure gave me a nice adrenaline rush.

I hate with that happens... especially with my luck with technology. Almost every single time I've to re-make everything one day after because my data is lost(my USB flashdrive betrays me by dying doesn't matter if it's new or not).

oh god that sucks. You'll get a lower grade for a project being 6 min late? Dang. Then again, U.S. institutions are kind of lenient in general, so maybe it would be better if more college profs had that kind of policy. I rarely turn in late work- the only time I do is when I forget the hard copy at home or, as in the above comic, there are technical issues beyond my control. Most profs here will give you full credit for the latter instance, since it's not your fault. Most profs will allow you to turn something in late as long as it's either right after class or within the same day as the class period, but some have a "no late work, period" policy, which I can understand as well. MY question is, how much will you be docked for being 6 minutes late?

Obviously the advice here is 'get it done before the deadline' but then really there's no reason this shouldn't have got in on time other than really bad luck. But it does get to the point where really you should just EXPECT something to go wrong, so when it does you're prepared.
