I think I can call this finished now. Man, this has taken up a lot of work...
My first ever real attempt at 3D animation. Kinda. I actually animated this whole thing twice, on the first try the cat's knees and elbows kept flipping over because of a ready made skeleton I was using that didn't have any controls or anything to change the joints to point the right direction once they had flipped over. The skeleton was probably meant for an animal like a horse that isn't as flexible as cat (originally the cat made a circle around the human character's leg, but the twisting spine was apparently too much for the leg bones to handle).
And since that plan failed, I had to rig it all over again, making a new skeleton from scratch. That of course destroyed the animation I had done with the old skeleton, so I had to start over. This time the legs worked fine, but the spine didn't obey me. Whatever little changes I tried to do, it screwed up things hundred or so frames earlier, giving the cat seizures and causing it to flip over and twist into knots around itself.
So, the animation isn't kind of what I wanted it to be. This bit is animated using both of the skeletons, the first cut is done with the newer one, which kept legs and tail looking great (I'm proud of that tail in the first eight seconds), and the rest is done with the first rig that let me animate the spine without messing everything up (the tail isn't nearly as pretty as with the other one, but it's good enough).
It's a bit rushed, thanks to me having to animate it over again with way too little time to do it. But I still consider it finished. I think I'm getting a cold or something, I feel a bit sick-ish, so I'm just going to call it a day, go home to have a cup of tea and not worry about the whole animation for the rest of the day.
similar happens to me with the whole 'twisting itself into knots and having a seizure' and there is a simple fix but i forgot what it was i do to fix that... although I use blender instead of that. No wait I remembered! in my case that is caused by inverse kinematics when it goes too far up a chain or starts at a bone that is connected and/or parented to the other bones. although the program you use could be very different to mine I can only afford the free stuff so blender is it for me Oh! and there should be something somewhere that limits how much a joint can rotate but i still need to figure out how to do that exactly myself >.>
It's good to see this thing that have caused so much frustration finally done ^^ A shame that you had to rush on it, the idea is so funny, and even though I really like the result, it's a shame that there was things you couldn't fix, such as the twisting tail and such. The cat's walk at first looks neat, as well as animationman's expressions. And please excuse me for a moment.
