AAAAAAAND CUT! I did it! I friking did it! The pages of the second book of Wurr are done! I reached it! Six days behind my schedule, but I did it! Teehehee!
I'll probably take a small break for comic drawing at this point. I still need to draw the covers for this, and I also owe couple of commissions that I'd really like to get done. Wurr will resume later.
I'm going to eat now. Getting this page finished was more important than eating today.
(On a side note, I love how the boss dog's design in the middle turned out.)
This page is filled with dramatic tension, masterfully emphasized by the looming dogs intense facial expressions, the fluidity of their movement in opposition to Crippled's desperate attempt at escape a harsh reminded that though Crippled has amazing control over his senses and a keen intellect to boot, physically he is a helpless as a baby bird... easily forgotten when he is among his helpful, supportive pack.
The log's dark shadows really help to give this an ominous feel. I absolutely love the way the hand-paw reaches out towards you, and the thicker lines really serve to give it a sort of 3D feel- really cool! I also love the tension lines around his right front arm- they really show us how weak he is, and how unlikely his escape might be.
Use of grayscale, anatomy and character designs remain down-to-earth and genuine- one of the things I really love about Wurr is how the realistic art makes everything in it, even the fantastic, seem completely real.
You've done a wonderful job with this comic- it is one of the few online creations that I really look forward to ever page from. Storytelling at it's best- and, oh, by the way, your information about how you learned to draw dogs- persevering and studying the anatomy, not just wondering why you couldn't get things right- is really an inspiration.
Great work! Oh, and here's hoping he doesn't die. He's a really sympathetic character. Even if he does, though, I'll be as enamored with this story as I've ever been.
Again I am just awestruck by WolfPearl's Design. Its like opposite from page 75 Were the Hounds first met Bakbak and his pursuers. ( [link] )
With the page being drawn as it has, Crippled's weakness is really being showed off good with his dark Backround compared to the white the dogs have.
The shading on the fallen tree is also expertly done, and the tune looks very well done. The grass is also looking real nice, especially the shading at the bottom and under Crippled.
Only one thing bother me: the grass under the tree it kinda looks cut. I realize that it looks like that because it disappears in the shading, or it goes under the tree. If its the second one, it should have been shaded just a bit more.
Over all its a fantastic page with a good dramatic feeling.
