Umh... Let's pretend that I uploaded this yesterday instead of failing and forgetting to scan this and that the resulting schedule slip never happened. Okay? ...right?
Has it ever happened to you, that you make up a perfect piece of dialogue, that offers subtle, hidden foreshadowing and characterization yet sounds natural and just feels perfectly fitting, and then when you proceed to draw the page needing said dialogue you realize you have forgotten it? Shame.
The use of the term "people" is confusing, because at first I thought you mean humans. But as we know, there are none in Wurr... If you mean "dogs", it might be better to replace the words.
Aside from that, I LOVE Iralbe the elder's design x'D.
I'm afraid I don't know any other word to use for the purpose. As far as I've understood "people" is plural for "person" as in meaning a member of a sentient species. I can't say "dogs" since that rules out the hounds and wolves, but to say "there are no hostile dogs, hounds or wolves" sounds kind of bad, and doesn't fit into the speech bubble. "People" has more general feeling to it than listing species awkwardly, and I want their speech to sound natural. I've been using human words on them before anyway (Surama got referred to as "girl" at one point, there was also "pay the good man" on one page since it sounded better than "pay the good male person") and, well, to me "people" just sounds more natural. I'm not a native English speaker, though, so my vocabulary has limits. My dictionary didn't rule it as strictly human word.
I'm also no english native speaker, so I don't know if "people" is only used in a human context. I also tend to call my pets "boy" or "girl", yet I don't call a bunch of dogs "people". In a world that has no humans it might work, though, since the characters have no need to specify between humans or dogs. The reader's mind however might automatically connect it to humans, at least, that's how I'd see it. But again, I'm no native.
