I'm pretty much in the process of changing my online name, have been already for a while, although not in a way that could be called loud in any way. I've just started to use Papermonkey whenever I need to talk about myself in third person and see whether people pick it up. I don't mind being called WolfPearl, though, I don't despise it or anything and it has been my online title for about a decade already anyway, so there is some nice amount of familiarity to it. It just doesn't feel as much like me as Papermonkey does. Aaaaaand WolfPearl originates from a brain fart from my teenage years, which is pretty good about reminding how bad of a writer I was back then.
I used to have this fantasy story totally-going-to-be-a-novel that was THE AWESOMEST BEST THING EVER (and ripped off about twenty different things all at once, including Harry Potter, Dragonlance, The Death Gate Cycle and everything... And everything was special and awesome and somehow a lot of things were made out of pure silver -enough to throw the world economy off-balance and drain the price of the metal down the sink- and/or had something to do with the moon), and one of the main characters had a sentient wizard's staff, that looked like a unicorn horn (really, really thick unicorn horn, with gradient blue-to-yellow coloring) almost as tall as a man, with a wolf head (and paws) sculpted of pure silver at the top, and the wolf holding blue, transcluent crystal ball in its teeth, and the staff's name was WolfPearl (yes, both W and P in capitals, written together). It was also psychic, talking to its owner telepathically and threw witty and sarcastic comments around ALL THE TIME. And it was the coolest thing evah!
So... WolfPearl as a name while being all nice and recognizable, it has some connections to some material that I don't really care about these days. Let's just say that some things might be worth forgetting about.
That said, I won't be changing my DA name anytime soon. Did some sniffing around and found out that Papermonkey is already taken. (Nine years ago by someone with only one deviation.) This does solve the whole name change dilemma of whether to give up my old recognizable title that people know in the favor of a new one with less history but one that feels more suitable, and also removes my stupid and unreasonable fear of someone taking the name from under my nose and possibly using it against me.
Thus this account will remain WolfPearl. At least until if I ever start using my real name as my online alias.
It doesn't stop me from using Papermonkey anywhere I can, though. My online distribution has been Papermonkeyfied lately.
I'm Papermonkey at Nabyn
and my Tumblr is Papermonkeyism.
(And I've been hanging around some art streaming chats as Papermonkey.)
I'm also considering getting a FurAffinity account to add to the list. For Wurr to
By the way, now that I've revealed the mysterious origins of WolfPearl, how about you guys? I'm kind of curious to see what kind of origin stories lie behind all those online aliases I see around.

Oh, dear, what have you unleashed, you are going to end up with a bucketload of comments about usernames. AND I'M JUST GOING TO ADD MINE TO THE PILE:
Real name: Elena; reverse it: Anele; frenchisize it: Anelle (sounds like a real name, yay!) and then i added "Yz" to the name 'cause around that time i was reading a french graphic novel called: "Les lumières de L'Amalou" (Amalou Lights), that featured humans and athropomorphic ferret-like creatures, and there were two siblings: Meth (male) and Yz (female) who were hybrids (part human, part ferret). I don't remember much of this dark comic now (i hope i'll be able to read it again some day), but i added the "yz" ending to honor it.
Here is pic of the two sibling: [link] Yz is the one lowest on the tree, she was mostly withe with some black spots and stripes (I really like black and white animals, specially horses, cats and dogs).
So there, huge unnecessary comment for you!
Erm... Yes, Ok, i'm going to stop analyzing your usernames now. XP
Close! "Comixqueen" is explained here, "Myrow" is the made-up name of one of my oldest OCs, and "Lightning-V" was an attempt at a cool nickname given to my by a friend
Aw, man. Valeria is such a beautiful name. I find Elena to be a bit to common. That's why i thought "turning it around" was a good idea.
Even the nasty 90 can stay at the end of it.
